Keeping Fit at the Gym

We all want to be fit. Adhering to a gym fitness program can be a difficult task for some. At the start it can seem rather a novelty to go to the gym. There is lots of equipment and the possibilities seem endless. However after a month you may be sick of the same old routine and can't bear the thought of having to return.

It is important to make your program interesting in order to keep fit. You could change your program weekly or monthly. It is best to get advice from one of the trainer's prior to changing your program. To keep fit you will need to be doing cardio every day.

There are lots of machines to use at gyms such as the treadmill, stationery bike and cross trainer. To stay fit you don't have to do vigorous exercise such as fast cycling or running every day. You could simply engage in brisk walking on the treadmill for an hour before work or after school. There are many incline levels to choose from which can make the treadmill more challenging.

If you are lacking the motivation you may want to enlist the support of a friend or a personal trainer. Personal trainers are great as they can really motivate you to work out and achieve the result you want.

If you can't commit to every day it is best to try and attend every second day. Two sessions should consist of resistance training where you are strengthening the muscles with your own body weight or with weights at the gym. There are countless machines and free weights to use. It is good to change the weight once your body gets used to it as you will no longer notice any change in the muscle.

There are also lots of fitness classes to attend at gyms. Spin classes are excellent as it incorporates strength training with an intense cardiovascular workout. Body pump is another great class which uses weights and works the entire body.

It is vital to have a healthy diet if you want to stay fit. If you eat the wrong food you may feel sluggish and may not perform the best. It is best to eat two or one hour prior to exercise. A sandwich or a couple of pieces of fruit is sufficient. After a workout it is best to have a meal that is high in protein and carbohydrate. Try and stay away from food that has a little nutritional value.
