Are There Benefits To Using Coconut Oil?

Making changes in your life can be difficult. Approximately eight years ago I was forced to make some drastic changes to my diet. I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis, otherwise known as Lazy Stomach. I was unable to digest my food properly. This disorder delays or stops the movement of food from the stomach to the small intestine. My doctor told me there was nothing he could do; there was no cure for it. He did mention that he would like me to be a "subject" for research. I politely declined and left the office feeling overwhelmed and numb.

The weeks following my diagnosis I saw a complimentary health practitioner and dove into research. There had to be a cause for Gastroparesis and if there is a cause there has to be something that can be done for it.

My health care practitioner was immensely helpful. It turned out that I had numerous food sensitivities and some food allergies. Eliminating these foods and making better food choices has helped me so much. I turned to the internet for my research on "good foods". I started with the questions, "What is good food?", "What makes these foods so good for you?" One of the most beneficial foods I found was coconut oil. It ranked very high with its nutritional benefits. It benefits your inner being and your outer being. It is an important food source and a noteworthy medicinal source.

One of the most common coconut oil benefits is for your complexion. It does not contain any petroleum based products so there is decreased sensitivity or allergic reactions. It has anti aging qualities too. I just love that! Coconut oil is high in antioxidants. The antioxidants help fight wrinkles and sagging skin. Massage some coconut oil into your skin and see for yourself the coconut oil benefits.

Acne starts on the inside of our bodies. Acne is a symptom of something more going on. Does it make sense to address the eruptions and not address the issues going on inside the body? Coconut oil contains important and powerful microbial agents. These microbial agents are lauric and capric acids. These two acids help fight infection. These are the identical two acids found in breast milk. The body can change these acids to become effective in the fight against acne. Apply it directly to the affected skin for good results. Eating it gives you an additional effective method of fighting acne. Coconut oil has high levels of vitamin E which are effective in the sebum production. Sebum is an oily or waxy substance secreted from the sebum gland. Ingesting it can correct the amount of sebum production and unclog the gland. When you apply the oil topically and take it internally you not only address the effects of acne you attack the cause of acne. If this oil can help with acne control imagine what it can do for the rest of your internal well being?

I believe that weight loss is a lifestyle change and not something you do to get back into your bikini after abusing your body the rest of the year. If you substitute the oil for all the other cooking oils you use you can lose weight. It's been proven! Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides which act more like carbohydrates in our bodies. These triglycerides are used more quickly by the body resulting in less "fat" stored. The benefit is more energy and better metabolism. It even acts as an appetite suppressant! SWEET!!

The oil is also well known treatment for hair. Use it as a pre treatment to your normal hair washing routine. Using it prior to your regular shampoo allows the oil to penetrate the hair strand more effectively when the hair strand swells during the process of washing it. It is great in controlling the "frizzies" during humid weather. Rub a small amount on your hands and smooth it over your hair to control the frizzies. No more expensive product to make my hair behave.

Applying the oil directly to the scalp is effective in dandruff control. Using it as a dandruff control treatment requires commitment. A onetime application will not give you the results you are looking for. Use it regularly for dandruff control.

Coconut oil can also be used in the treatment of head lice. Cover the whole head with the oil, cover with a towel and shower cap and allow it to stay on overnight. In the morning use a fine tooth lice comb, comb through the hair in sections removing the nits as you go. Wash the hair as you normally would. Rinse the hair with vinegar to help eliminate any residual oil. Repeat every 3 or 4 days for 2 weeks to get any nits that may have hatched.

There are reports that the oil benefits hair loss. One reason for hair loss is microbial action at the scalp and hair root. The consumption of coconut oil has powerful antimicrobial qualities that can inhibit hair loss. Try coconut oil before you go to more expensive treatments.

Have you tried coconut oil? Coconut oil is very healthy and extremely easy to use.
